Letters to God

Dear God:

Remember You told me that You loved me unconditionally and that You would never

turn Your back on me; that You'd be there no matter what?  I remember You telling me those things.  So how come there are people out there that are telling me You will turn Your back on me?  Why would You do this if You loved me?  They say if I do certain things, You'll punish me and send me to Hell.  Why would someone want another to experience Hell if they loved that person?  How is that unconditional love?

What is unconditional love; what does that mean?  The dictionary says it means without conditions or reservations.  Some religions say that is what it means and that You love us unconditionally.  Yet, they turn around and say if we choose "wrongly" You'll send us to Hell or Purgatory or some place other than Heaven.  This doesn't make any sense based on the definition of what unconditional love is.  Because for You to love us unconditionally, which You do, that means we can do anything we want to — and You won't do a damn thing about it.  You won't send us to Hell; You'll just love us.  You won't send us to Purgatory; You'll just love us.  You won't make us repent; You'll just love us.  You won't send us to our rooms — oops, sorry, got You confused with my parents.  You love us unconditionally, without expectations.

Of course, I do know there are consequences for my actions; they’re just not what a lot of people think.

What would the world be like if everyone loved the way You do?  For just one day a week?  Forget that, how about just six hours, one day a week?

Society is so smart and remembers really cool things about You, but then they screw it up by adding their own limiting ideas to it, claiming that they are Your "whishes."  What are they afraid of?

I think some people are afraid if they let go, they will lose the power they have.  Only the power they have is power over others. And power over others isn't nearly as powerful as the power of God inside themselves.

Why can't they remember?

Thank You God for loving me just the way I am,

Julia
