I came to offer thee a flower, but thou must have all my garden.  It is thine.

To My Dearest:

You came to me in my dreams last night.  It has been since December; why have you stayed away so long?

In my dream I was the same age I am now, and I was in some kind of school as a student.  I was a about 15 minutes late for class, but I didn’t feel like I was in trouble because I knew the teacher — she was you.  The door to the room opened into a short dark hall, and the class area was further in and to the left, out of sight.  As I walked in, I heard laughter in the room, then it fell silent.  I paused in the entrance, and then I felt you at my side — which was strange, because I thought the walls were solid.  You ran one hand over my shoulder and the other under my chin and gently kissed me on the cheek, making that sigh you always make when you haven’t seen me for a while.

I melted into your touch, and a sense of deep peace and belonging washed over me.  I turned to face you, and . . . you were Mary Steenburgen, the actress!  Part of me didn’t question that; the other half was a bit puzzled.  But total shock and surprise ensued when I blinked and Mary had been replaced by a short Bob Hoskins, grinning mischievously up at me!

I shot straight up in bed, clutching my chest!

I swear I am not making this up!

I have much more to tell you, but right now, Bob Hoskins’ grin is still dancing before my eyes!  So I will write more later.

Sometimes the Universe has a wicked sense of humor!

For now, I remain halfway to nowhere . . . .

Robert
